Recalls: Starcaps diet supplements

US Recall News     updated  2008/12/09 09:39

The following recalls have been announced:

_ Balanced Health Products Inc. is recalling an additional 57,269 30-capsule bottles of Starcaps Diet System dietary supplements. This expands the company's earlier recalls to include two additional lot numbers — 12/2009-82866 and 12/2010-83801.

The product contains bumetanide, a prescription diuretic drug that poses a risk of significant fluid and electrolyte loss. It could also cause low blood pressure and fainting in certain people. Bumetanide could react with digoxin and lithium and lead to an increased risk of toxicity. No incidents have been reported, according to the New York company.

The supplements were sold online and at stores around the country. Bottles from lot number 12/2009-82866 were sold between March 2006 and April 2007. Bottles from lot 12/2010-83801 were sold between May 2007 and July 2008. The recalled bottles can be returned to Balanced Health Products Inc. at the address listed on the label.
